FREE SPECIAL PROGRAMMING
BRECKENRIDGE THEATER - 121 S. Ridge St.
Sunday 9/22 - 12:30 PM
See young filmmakers in action! After a weekend of work with professional and student mentors attending the Breck Film Fest, students participating in the Girls in STEM program will showcase their stop-motion animation films. For more than 5 years, Keystone Science School has engaged young women within science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) career paths through its Girls in STEM programs. Each program explores a STEM subject and encourages participants to learn from female professionals serving as STEM Mentors about career paths within a specific content area. The partnership with the Breck Film Fest exposes participants to careers within the film industry from filmmakers attending festival weekend from across the nation and globe. These filmmakers guide students in the making of their own short film while learning about careers that make up the film industry, with a special focus on direction, production, cinematography and editing, as these are the hands-on skills the girls practice during the weekend. This program explores the importance of women within the film industry and showcases the girls’ short films.
