Halloween falls on a Saturday this year (children and teachers rejoice!), and the Eclipse has two very different movies if you’re looking to fill the non-candy part of your weekend.
One is a dark, adult thriller about a TV host chasing fame. The other is a fantasy romance about a fisherwoman who orders a husband made of wicker. But both promise one thing: excellence in filmmaking in a year that’s already given us some great films.
If you’ve been wondering what’s playing at the Eclipse Theater in Breckenridge, this is your guide to the next two weeks, with the details that make a night out easy.
What’s Showing at the Eclipse Theater From Oct 23 to Nov 1
You can find all start times listed on our ticketing page, as well as information on other events. As always, specific showtimes can shift, so confirm before you head over.
| Film | Rating | Showings (start times) |
|---|---|---|
| Primetime | R | Fri Oct 23, Sat Oct 24, Sun Oct 25, Wed Oct 28, Thu Oct 29: 4:30 pm and 7:00 pm |
| Wicker | R | Fri Oct 30: 4:30 pm and 7:00 pm. Sat Oct 31: 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm. Sun Nov 1: 4:30 pm and 7:00 pm |
Primetime (R, 110 minutes)
Primetime turns back the clocks to 2006, and To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen wants to make television history. But that moment is cut short when a high-stakes operation goes fatally wrong. Now his dream of fame turns into a nightmare.
Robert Pattinson plays Hansen, with Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Phoebe Bridgers, and Bokeem Woodbine in the cast. Director Lance Oppenheim comes from documentary filmmaking, and this is his first dramatic feature.
Roger Ebert’s review calls it a media satire that plays like a thriller and a horror movie, and singles out Pattinson’s performance.
Wicker (R, 1 hour 45 minutes)
Wicker is about a fisherwoman in a seaside village who is done with her small-minded neighbors. So she commissions a husband made of wicker. That’s all we’re going to tell you – you’ll have to watch to see the rest!
Eleanor Wilson and Alex Huston Fischer direct this unconventional romance, starring Olivia Colman, Richard E. Grant, Peter Dinklage, Elizabeth Debicki, and Alexander Skarsgård.
The title might remind you of a certain folk-horror classic, but Wicker stands in a spot all its own. Expect an unconventional romance and a lot of small-town chaos instead.
Don’t Forget Local’s Day! $9 Tickets Every Wednesday
Did you know that every Wednesday is Local’s Day at the Eclipse? You can grab $9 tickets, and visitors pay the same $9 as locals. A $1.50 convenience fee applies to each ticket, and prices are the same online and at the box office.
So make sure to mark your calendars for Wednesday, Oct 28. Both Primetime showings, at 4:30 and 7:00 pm, are $9 plus the fee.
The Holidays Are Coming: Gift a Breck Film Membership
If you’re at the Eclipse more than a couple of times a year, a membership may be well worth it. You can get much more out of your filmgoing experience year-round, and you’ll be supporting one of Breck’s local treasures.
The Novice level is $60 a year and brings $9 tickets to regular Eclipse programming every day of the week, 20% off non-alcoholic concessions, one free ticket to a Breck Film Society event, a Buy One Get One night each month, and early access to festival pass sales.
The Green level is $100 a year and adds a free Eclipse cup that takes $1 off every drink, a free small popcorn at any show, and two free tickets to an Eclipse or Backstage Theater showing during the festival. They also make thoughtful gifts for the cinephile in your life (even if it’s you!)
