Awards Season approaches, and we’re especially excited about this year’s lineup, which features everything from groundbreaking musicals to thought-provoking dramas.

As your premier source for unique film experiences in the High Country, we’re proud to present our curated guide to the most anticipated films of the season, many of which you’ll be able to experience right here at The Eclipse.

Let’s take a closer look at what’s coming to our screens, both here in Breckenridge and in the wider world of cinema…

Wicked

Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfill their destinies as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West. This stunning production brings the full spectacle of Broadway to the big screen, complete with soaring musical numbers and breathtaking visuals that will enchant audiences of all ages.

However, as he navigates the hallowed halls among the world’s most powerful religious leaders, he uncovers a trail of secrets that could fundamentally alter the Catholic Church forever.

With its masterful direction by Edward Berger (All Quiet on the Western Front) and a powerhouse performance from Fiennes, “Conclave” combines the tension of a political thriller with profound questions about faith, power, and tradition.

Films of Note Not in Theaters

There are plenty of other great films you can catch in cinemas across the world – and you will want to add these to your list as well!

Anora

Sean Baker’s latest film stars Mikey Madison as a sex worker who marries the son of a Russian oligarch. While the fairy tale relationship seems to be a dream come true, the news of the relationship receives an icy reception in Russia. Already generating Oscar buzz, this modern Cinderella story premiered at the London Film Festival to critical acclaim.

Gladiator II

Ridley Scott returns to ancient Rome in this sequel to his 2000 epic. Starring Paul Mescal and Pedro Pascal, the film follows Lucius, now grown, as he seeks revenge and becomes a gladiator. It premiered in Sydney on October 30, 2024.

Dune: Part Two

Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated sequel, starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, continues the epic sci-fi saga in the world of Arrakis. Originally slated for fall 2023, it was pushed back due to industry strikes – but is a film well worth the wait.

Challengers

Directed by Luca Guadagnino and starring Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist, Challengers is a romantic sports drama about two competitors in the world of professional tennis – and the webs of love and rivalry that entangle them.
