Thinking about a winter getaway to Breckenridge? (Who isn’t, right?)
Here’s our Breck Film secret: While everyone’s talking about first tracks and powder days, we’ve got some real holiday season fun in store – exceptional cinema at The Eclipse Theater!
Sure, you might be coming to town to enjoy the cold outdoors, but why not take some time to get cozy and warm up while watching a great flick?
Our small local theater is designed to deliver an evening of great films, and we’re showing two movies this month that you won’t want to miss. Plus, we’ll throw in a few other holiday season ideas to make the most of your time in town!
Now Showing at The Eclipse
We’ve got two unique movies from two very unique worlds on the big screen this month. Here’s what you can catch when you stop into Breck this month:
Bugonia
Kicking off our late November lineup is Bugonia – and you won’t want to miss this screening that promises to be unlike anything else you’ll see this year.
The film centers on two conspiracy-obsessed young men who kidnap a high-powered CEO, convinced she’s an alien intent on destroying Earth. What follows is a wild ride that blends sci-fi elements with dark comedy in ways only modern cinema can deliver.
Bugonia is actually an English-language remake of the 2003 South Korean film Save the Green Planet! by Jang Joon-hwan – with some incredible modern-day American undertones that you can’t help but catch as you watch the movie unfold.
Bugonia is showing on Thursday, November 20th, with two special screenings at 4:30 PM and 7:15 PM. It’s perfect for either an après-ski adventure or a full evening out. Given its limited run, this is your chance to catch something truly unique before it disappears.
Wicked: For Good (November 21-December 5)
Just in time for Thanksgiving weekend, we’re thrilled to bring you what may be the most anticipated movie of 2025: Wicked: For Good.
This second part of the beloved musical’s film adaptation continues Elphaba and Glinda’s story in the magical land of Oz, exploring how their choices will change everything.
With show-stopping musical numbers, dazzling visuals, and themes of friendship and destiny that resonate across generations, this is the perfect film for the whole family.
We’re showing it twice daily at 4:00 PM and 7:30 PM throughout the Thanksgiving holiday and beyond, giving you plenty of opportunities to experience the magic.
Planning Your Breckenridge Movie Adventure
It’s not all movies and powder in Breck – there’s plenty to see and do while you’re in town, even if it’s only for a few days!
For the Weekend Warrior
Friday Arrival: After checking into your accommodations and grabbing dinner on Main Street, catch the 7:30 PM showing of Wicked.
Saturday: Hit the slopes early (Breck typically opens November 7), break for lunch, then catch the 4:00 PM matinee. You’ll be out in time for dinner at one of our fantastic restaurants and still have energy for evening festivities.
Sunday: One more morning on the mountain, then wrap up your weekend with another film before heading home. The 4:00 PM Sunday showing gets you out early enough to beat the I-70 traffic.
For the Thanksgiving Visitor
Thanksgiving in Breckenridge offers a special blend of early-season skiing and holiday charm.
The Eclipse Theater stays open throughout the holiday, and you’re just a few minutes away from some of the best food and shopping Breck has to offer during the holiday season.
Thanksgiving Day: After your feast, walk off dinner with a stroll down Main Street to catch the 7:30 PM showing. It’s the best way to walk off the calories and see the town decked out for the holidays (and we’ll be showing Wicked: For Good if you’d rather rest!)
Black Friday: Skip the shopping madness and treat yourself to a relaxing afternoon at the movies. Our 4:00 PM showing leaves plenty of time for lunch at one of our local spots that stay open for the holiday weekend.
For the Extended Stay Guest
If you’re lucky enough to be spending a week or more in Breck this November, there’s plenty of stuff to see and do. We always say mix movie nights with other winter activities like:
- Morning runs at Breckenridge Ski Resort
- Afternoon snowshoeing at the Nordic Center (opens mid-November)
- Evening shows at The Eclipse
- Late-night drinks at one of Main Street’s cozy bars
The Eclipse Makes Your Breck Winter Visit Special
Located at 103 South Harris Street on the north side of the library building, The Eclipse Theater offers some special moments you won’t find at just any multiplex.
Our intimate 30-seat venue means every seat feels like the best in the house. We serve local craft beer and wine alongside fresh popcorn, creating a true Colorado movie experience.
But what really sets us apart is the atmosphere. In a world of massive theater chains and endless previews, The Eclipse maintains the community feel that makes Breckenridge special – and it’s why so many continue coming back year after year.
Making the Most of Your Visit to Breck
The holidays are one of the busiest times in Breckenridge, so there are a few things you’ll want to keep in mind to make sure you get the most out of your visit.
Book Early: Nearly all the events and showings during the holiday season sell out quickly, so it’s important to book your tickets and reservations in advance.
Stay Local: Instead of staying at a big hotel chain, consider booking a cozy vacation rental or bed and breakfast. Not only will you get a more authentic experience, but you’ll also be supporting local businesses.
Eat Like a Local: Don’t just stick to the popular restaurants – explore the hidden gems that the locals love. You’ll find delicious food and support small businesses.
Don’t Forget to Explore: While enjoying all that Breckenridge has to offer during the holidays, don’t forget to take some time to explore the beautiful town itself.
Will We See You In Breck This Winter?
As Breckenridge turns into a winter playground, you won’t want to miss the fun and magic of our mountain town. And if you’re looking to add some movie fun to the mix, make sure to stop by The Eclipse!
Check showtimes and grab tickets online or just stop by the theater. We’ll save you a seat – and maybe share our favorite local spots for that post-movie nightcap.
See you in Breck!
